06 Jul “Our Best Ever!” – ROA Release “Ushism” Video Ahead of UK Live Debut

Japan’s shamisen rockers ROA have unleashed their “best ever” music video Ushism today, a week before they head to England to perform at the UK’s biggest Japanese pop culture celebration HYPER JAPAN, followed by their headline show at The Underworld in Camden.

Ushism is the best music video we have ever made! I hope you like it” says guitarist and manager Shuu, who can’t wait to bring his band to the United Kingdom. “Last time I was in the UK I was ten years old, doing homestay in Leicester. It was a great experience and I can’t wait to come back to this country with my band! Some of my favourite punk rock artists have played at the Underworld in Camden, I want to show host family how much I’ve grown since they last saw me. I am very proud that ROA can be playing there!! I am looking forward to playing in the UK and making many new memories.”

ROA will play headline The Underworld in Camden on 17 July 2018, with support from Haggard Cat, D.A.R.K.O. and High Waste Genes. Click here for tickets and info.

Ushism is the third full music video released from ROA’s international exclusive debut album RODIAC. Last month the band revealed the hard hitting video to album track Toriot, as well as Hitsugenius which was filmed using footage of ROA’s appearance in France earlier this year.

ROA’s unique sound juxtaposes western punk-rock spirit with traditional eastern melody, a concept they’ve dubbed “和洋折衷/ Wayo Settyu” –literally meaning “the blending of Japanese and western styles”. Formed by the drummer of Japan’s legendary chart-topping ska-punk outfit SNAIL RAMP, ROA manage to propel their country’s three-stringed traditional instrument, the Tsugaru-shamisen, into the 21st century by implementing its iconic sound in new and exciting ways.
